CollaborativeECM is the first result of the Procogec (Collaborative Knowledge Management Software) research consortium, whose objective is to imagine the collaborative platforms of the future. The ambition of this project is to design a new generation of “predictive collaborative platforms” capable of fostering collective efficiency. This platform will be capable of interacting with the user and of suggesting connections with other users as well as access to relevant capitalised knowledge, depending on context and use.
In 2007, Knowings was selected by the French National Research Agency to lead this important research consortium which brings together several of Knowings’ partners. The project currently mobilises over 35 people and should represent 7000 working days of development over a period of 3 years.

- Industrial partners, Antecim and Gaz de France, are currently investing in the project and plan on rolling out the future collaborative platform internally as an experimental application.

Content and Documents Management
Faceted navigation : displays the full list of documents categorised according to various attributes (ex. author, category, creation date) and the number of documents in each category. The user navigates by selecting and filtering documents by category to display only the relevant documents. A navigation path displays the user’s current selections and allows him to return to any point in this sequence.
Search engine : full text or multicriteria search on all or part of the application’s workspaces. Automatic extraction of relevant content with selected keywords highlighted.
Thumbnails and documents viewer : on publication of a document, automatic generation of its first page as a thumbnail, or possibility of displaying the document through an integrated viewer.
Taxonomy / Multidimensional categorisation : enables an authorised user to autonomously manage the taxonomy of documents. These taxonomies may be applied to several document workspaces (e.g. project workspaces).
Publication forms : enables the user to publish text, categorisation elements and several attached files.
Collaborative practices
Workspace cloning : generation of template workspaces that can then be easily duplicated.
Customizable user interface : each user may freely define a global portal page and community homepages by selecting content from the widget library (including external content).
Push and alert notifications : the push engine sends automatic and customizable notifications for new or modified content according to each user’s profile.

Centralised and cascaded back office management : based on an innovative back office model, the application enables the administrator to establish hierarchical relationships between workspaces.
